Course Description:
Course Overview
This 3-day deep dive workshop is an intermediate-level, hands-on program designed for sustainability, risk management, finance, and investor relations professionals from SET-listed companies and public agencies. The program builds apply-level competence in conducting climate-related scenario analysis aligned with IFRS S2 requirements, with a strong emphasis on international and Thai context, proportionality, and real-world disclosure quality.
The workshop directly supports SET’s objective to improve the consistency, comparability, and decision-usefulness of climate-related disclosures among Thai listed companies. Participants build capability progressively—from understanding IFRS S2 requirements, to analyzing climate pathways and risks, to conducting scenario-based financial assessments, culminating in a hands-on capstone case study for a hypothetical Thai industrial conglomerate.
(This course structure is subject to change as the sustainability reporting landscape, application guidance, and course development are evolving)
Learning Objectives
Upon successful completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:
- Apply a baseline understanding of the IFRS S2 core content (Governance, Strategy, Risk Management, Metrics & Targets) to establish the structural foundation for scenario analysis.
- Select appropriate climate pathways using open-source datasets and scenarios (IEA, IPCC, NGFS, Aqueduct, Think Hazard).
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative climate scenario analysis to identify and prioritize material physical and transition risks.
- Evaluate financial implications (e.g., impact on OPEX, CAPEX, and asset VaR) consistent with IFRS S2 Strategy resilience assessment requirements.
- Align IFRS S2 Climate-related Scenario Analysis with FTSE Russell ESG disclosure practices to strengthen governance and strategy scores.
Key Data Sources & Tools
The workshop provides guided, hands-on practice with open-access climate datasets and pathways commonly used in S2-aligned scenario analysis:
- Physical Risk: IPCC, Think Hazard (Thailand), Aqueduct, Climate Impact Explorer
- Transition Risk: IEA WEO 2024, NGFS, ICAP ETS Map
- National Context: Thailand National Adaptation Plan (NAP) 2024, 2015 Paris Agreement
